The Ostrich Festival

It’s been a few years since we’ve been to the Ostrich Festival, but we went again this year and had a good time. We saw the ostrich races, of course, as well as the jousting competition.

I tried an ostrich burger, which is supposed to be lower in fat that chicken but honestly, I wasn’t very impressed. It tasted sort of corny, if you must know. And since the ostrich was corn-fed, I’m guessing that’s why. So if YOU haven’t tried ostrich before, don’t bother. Unless you happen to be at a fair and actually want to eat something low fat and corny but otherwise flavorless.  In which case, have at it. Ostrich is the way to go!
The best fun we had was when Jess and I went in the “Wow Balls,” which were…well, perhaps you should just see the pictures to best understand exactly what they were. Suffice it to say that while I don’t think anyone ever needs to try ostrich, EVERYONE should try a Wow Ball.

This picture is the only time I managed to stand up right in the Wow Ball and I wasn't even in the water!  Otherwise, I kept trying…kept falling over…and kept laughing hysterically. Good time. Good times, I tell you!

Jessica managed to stand up several times. She rocks!!

Jessica tried her hand at a couple of carnival games, too.  She even won a little stuffed animal for popping two balloons with three darts!

Here she is, all proud of her little yellow piggie!
