Here are a few pics of our fall break 2010 vacation. We drove to California for a few days. The weather was great and we all got to do something we've been wanting to do. Universal Studios for Gary. The beach for Jessica. And La Brea Tar Pits for me. Well, okay, we never managed to make it to the tar pits. But it was still a fun trip. NOT as fun as it would have been if we'd actually made it to the tar pits, mind you, but fun nonetheless! lol
The drive takes about 5 hours and 45 minutes (including a potty break for the two of us girls who DON'T have the bladder of a camel like Gary does). Despite the discomfort of sitting, sitting, sitting for so many hours, I really enjoy road trips. Gary drives, I scratch his back and keep Jessica entertained, and her job, of course, is to ask, "Are we there yet?"

We've driven to Ca several times since we moved here --to go to Disney and SeaWorld, and of course, the beaches.
A picture Jessica took the evening we arrived. We went to the Santa Monica pier before we checked in to our hotel, had dinner and walked around. The sunset was beautiful, the pier was packed (there are rides and vendors on it), and it was also very, very stinky. Think beach-funk stink times 10. The dirty diaper I found washed up on the beach should give you an indication of the funk-smell I'm talking about. It wasn't just sea-smell we were a-smellin'!
Jessica and Daddy playing volleyball on the beach, something Jessica was DYING to do. I am best utilized behind the camera as I do not hit balls well. Or catch them, for that matter. How it's possible that I can juggle but cannot do any other sort of ball-related sport is beyond me.
One of my very favorite pictures from the trip. A rare and elusive shot of both parents-in-the-picture-at-the-same-time! And look, both my eyes are open. At the same time. Not the best picture of Gary, maybe, but whatever!
Gar and Jess visiting Mr. Crab at Bikini Bottom. See Sandy in thw background, waving? How sad that I don't particularly care for Spongebob and yet I've probably seen every episode ever made. Three times.
Jess and I. She's such a cutie.
Ya know what I hate? I hate when a shark swallows up your kid when you're on vacation. It bites.
Hey Scoob! It's, like, the Mystery Machine, man!
Every time we got back in the car, Jessica started journaling about our trip again. I wonder where she gets the urge to write so much. Odd, isn't it?
Our trip was fun, if a little short (no tar pits, remember). We drove to California on Sunday and came back on Wednesday, but it was nice to experience a change of scenery. And thank goodness Jess caught Strep the week BEFORE fall break this year. Usually she gets it a day or two befor fall break starts. =) All in all, a very good time!
